Checking out a new church can be an unknown experience but hopefully this will give you a better idea of what you'll find at Spirit of Christ. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have more questions that aren't answered here!
What time is worship?
Our regular worship is at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Choir and Sunday School are at 10:00 a.m. from September through May.
What happens at 11:00 a.m. worship?
Our worship is a one-hour service designed to help each person and the entire gather community to experience God and find something to help us in our daily lives. Our Lutheran liturgy is written specifically for each Sunday and our readings and preaching follow the Revised Common Lectionary. The liturgy and music is printed in our Sunday bulletins and projected on a screen at front of the sanctuary.
It's my first time visiting. Where do I go?
Check our Directions page for a map of how to get here. When you arrive we have a large parking lot on the east side of the church building. The main door is toward the northeast corner of the building and will get you into the atrium area at the back of the sanctuary. Upon entering, you'll soon be greeted by our ushers who can get you a bulletin and help you find a place to sit! You're invited to stay after the service for some social time (and snacks!) which will take place in the Fellowship Hall downstairs. There are stairs on the north and south ends of the building and an elevator by the northeast entrance. Bathrooms are also downstairs.
Should I dress up?
You'll see some people dressed up and others dressed very casually. We invite you to join us in whatever feels most comfortable to you!
When do you serve Communion?
We celebrate communion every Sunday and everyone is welcome at the Lord's Table.
What is Spirit of Christ really like?
Our members are from mixed religious backgrounds who are Christ centered (Christian), authentic, Biblical, spiritual, diverse, caring, committed, evangelical, community based, and mission minded.
We believe in God, the creator of life and the giver of all good gifts.
We believe in Jesus the Christ, the one who defeated death and arose to new life.
We believe in the Holy spirit, the spirit of truth that lives in us even today.
We believe in the church, the caring community that carries on the work of Jesus in the world.
We know that God loves us, and we are unafraid.
We believe in new life, both in this world and in the world to come.
We face the future without fear.
Does Spirit of Christ perform weddings and baptisms?
We are happy to celebrate your wedding or baptism here, whether or not you are a member or regular attendee at Spirit of Christ! The sanctuary holds about 200 people. Before these can be scheduled, you'll need to meet with our pastor. Please contact us to learn more and check available dates.
How do I become a member?
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about Spirit of Christ or becoming a member, please join us for a new member meeting. We will share some treats, give you some great background information on the church, and answer any questions you may have. If you decide to become an SOC member, we will set it up! Talk with the pastor on Sunday or contact us for more details.
